Veryfine Methane Flare Noise Study

DESCRIPTION:

As part of a new wastewater treatment facility at Veryfine's Littleton plant, a methane gas flare will be installed. Sound level measurements were taken at a similar flare in operation at a plant in Cornwall, Ontario. Background noise monitoring near the Veryfine facility was performed using a Type 1 analyzer and octave band filters, and a Type 2 analyzer with 24-hour time logging capabilities. Future noise levels with the flare in operation were shown to be in compliance with state regulations and the town noise by-law. Expert testimony was given at a public hearing and before the Board of Health.
