New Boston Garden (Originally Fleet Center)

SERVICE:

AQ & Noise Impact Study for Sports Arena

DESCRIPTION:

Delaware North Companies sought to replace the venerable Boston Garden in the West End with a new, privately-funded New Boston Garden Arena, now known as the TD Bank Garden, and a commercial development created in Boston's North Station Urban Renewal District. The arena serves as the home of the Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, and as a venue for a wide variety of concerts, entertainment events, and conventions and is located atop a major transit hub, North Station.

Tech Environmental performed the air quality and noise impact analyses for the State Environmental Impact Review (EIR) and City Project Impact Report (PIR) documents. In addition to the 19,500 seat arena and 2.3 million sq. ft of office, hotel and retail space, the study included the new 1,100 space underground parking garage. Tech's efforts confirmed that the project would pose no undue air quality or noise impacts and allowed it to proceed. Although the project originally estimated a completion date of 1999, the Garden opened on September 30, 1995.
