Fuel Cells at AT&T Queens

SERVICE:

Acoustical Modeling Study

DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental conducted an acoustical modeling study of a proposed fuel cell at an existing AT&T site in Rego Park, New York. The seven module fuel cell was proposed to be located near the facility property line and a public sidewalk. The goal of the study was the demonstrate that the proposed fuel cell would comply with noise requirements of the New York City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR). CEQR is the process by which agencies of the City of New York review proposed discretionary actions to identify the effects those actions may have on the environment. Compliance with CEQR criteria ensures that the proposed project will also comply with the New York City Noise Code and New York State noise guidelines. The study concluded that the proposed fuel cell would not create a noise nuisance condition and would fully comply with the CEQR sound limits.

Key Points

  • An existing AT&T site in New York needed to perform a sound study to assess compliance with the New York City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR).
  • Tech performed a sound study and an acoustical modeling study, concluding that the proposed fuel cell would not create a noise nuisance condition and would fully comply with CEQR sound limits.
