Tremont Crossing for BRA Large Project

SERVICE:

Air Quality, GHG, and Noise Analyses

DESCRIPTION:

Tech was asked to perform air quality and noise analyses for the Tremont Crossing Project to satisfy the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) requirements for large projects. The Project's mix of uses will include approximately 404,475 square feet of larger retail (which will consist of a mix of large-format retail, medium sized, junior-anchors and entertainment and recreational uses), 33,800 square feet of smaller shops and boutiques fronting along Tremont Street, 233,784 square feet of office space, 300 units of multifamily residential (approximately 297,886 square feet) made up of studios, one bedroom and two bedroom rental apartments (of which the requisite affordable units will be provided), a 200 room hotel, and 37,520 square feet of cultural facilities that will primarily house a 21,000 square foot new museum and other artist studio space. When conducting the noise monitoring portion, Tech collected daytime and nighttime measurements at three locations surrounding the project area. They also acoustically modeled the mechanical equipment located on the rooftop of the building. Using this data, they will able to produce a noise section for the PIR for submittal. In addition to the noise work, Tech also performed an air quality microscale model for four intersections around the Project area. This included dispersion modeling of the rooftop mechanical equipment and the parking garage exhaust ventilation. Based off of the results in this section, Tech was able to prepare a report for future use in the PIR.
