Industrial Performance Standards Checklist

DESCRIPTION:

While working as the technical reviewer for the Devens Enterprise Commission (the DEC), Tech was tasked with developing a checklist for the DEC with respect to the Industrial Performance Standards (IPS). These standards were developed to allow for the coordinated expansion of the industrial, commercial, and residential portions of the Devens planned community in a steam-lined manner. As long as a proponent can meet the IPS in the development Rules and Regulations then the permitting process can be completed in a manner of days. Tech developed a checklist for future proponents, so they could ask themselves the questions necessary to determine the appropriate studies for the type of project being proposed. The checklist was divided up into discrete sections on air quality, noise, odor, lighting, and other nuisance potential. The checklist allows proponents to gather all of the information necessary to demonstrate compliance with the IPS up front, which decreased the number of iterations necessary to get approval.
