Juhl Wind: Gunderson Lutheran Wind Farm

SERVICE:

Noise and Shadow Flicker Study

DESCRIPTION:

Juhl Wind, Inc. has developed the 5-MW Gunderson Lutheran Wind Project in Winona County, Minnesota consisting of two Clipper C96 2.5 MW turbines.

Tech Environmental, Inc. (Tech) was retained by Juhl Wind to conduct a sound study and a shadow flicker analysis on the proposed Gunderson Lutheran Wind Project. Tech conducted acoustic modeling with Cadna-A that confirmed that the sound generated by the wind turbines complies with the nighttime Minnesota noise standards and does not produce a pure tone. Finally, Tech's investigation found that the shadow flicker effect from the turbines is less than the industry standard of 30 hours per year.
