Ocean Resort Wastewater Treatment

Odor Control for Amphidrome

DESCRIPTION:

An ocean resort expanded its on-site wastewater treatment plant.  The treatment plant is located underground between luxury staterooms, tennis courts, two pools, and an lounge on the terrace overlooking the ocean. The facility is completely subterranean and out of sight.  Unfortunately, the plant produced nuisance odor, making it all too noticeable.

Tech Environmental was asked to examine the treatment plant, locate the source of the odor and recommend and oversee the installation of temporary measures to improve odor control and minimize odor during the peak tourist season.

Tech collected liquid and vapor phase readings.  Tech isolated the treatment process of concern and the interceptor of concern.  Tech then recommended the addition of an oxidant to reduce the overall odor and odor control for the process of concern.  The temporary measure greatly reduced the odor potential during the summer.

Tech also recommended a permanent solution for implementation if and when the facility decides that it is necessary.
