DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental performed a noise and vibration assessment for Tyco Flow Control's proposed valve steam test facility in Mansfield, MA. Tech measured sound pressure and vibration levels at Tyco's existing valve steam test facility in Wrentham, MA and used those data to model future noise and vibration conditions for the expected equipment configuration inside the new Mansfield facility.

Tech first measured sound during operation of the existing steam test facility. Sound measurements were made both inside the boiler room and inside the steam valve testing rooms. Tech collected vibration measurements inside and outside the boiler room under typical high-vibration conditions. Future sound and vibration levels for the Mansfield facility were estimated based on potential wall designs and configurations. Tech recommended acoustic doors in each of the steam test rooms, and suggested that a sound absorption fiberglass pad should be installed on one wall in each of the steam test rooms.
