DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental completed an evaluation of property line sound levels experienced at the proposed Evergreen Crossing residential development in Manchester, CT. The objective of this sound study was to assess the effects of surrounding industrial and roadway activity along the property line and to determine compliance with federal guidelines. The Evergreen Crossing site is bordered to the north by a cement facility, which produced the majority of the sound heard along the northern property line of the site.

Tech determined that sound levels anticipated at the Evergreen Crossing development were below the federal guideline for most conditions. Under certain wind conditions during heavy equipment usage, sound levels could slightly exceed the federal guidelines at the northern property boundary. As a result, Tech specified building material improvements to ensure compliance.
