Noise Analysis for Two Wind Turbines

DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental, Inc. provided acoustic consulting services to CCI Energy, Inc. of Plymouth, MA in their installation of two wind turbines along Route 3A in Cohasset, Massachusetts near Hingham Lumber and Graham Waste Services. The two wind turbines will sit atop 100 meter towers and provide the Town with substantial wind energy.

Tech Environmental performed baseline ambient sound level monitoring in nearby residential areas, which was correlated to wind measurements from a nearby tower. Manufacturer's sound power data were used to calculate future sound levels with a sophisticated 3-D acoustic model to demonstrate compliance with the MassDEP Noise Policy. Compliance was demonstrated for both the cut-in and design wind speed conditions for the wind turbine.
