Noise Impact Assessment

DESCRIPTION:

Tech Environmental was retained by Bohler Engineering to perform a noise study for the Wal-Mart Tire and Lube Express Center (TLE) in West Haven, Connecticut due to complaints from an adjacent residential neighborhood.

Tech established the sound levels emitted from the Wal-Mart TLE during typical operating conditions for use in the noise modeling analysis. Tech conducted a noise modeling analysis using a sophisticated 3-D model to estimate the potential noise contribution at the two closest residential abutters and to assess the potential noise reduction benefits of installing a noise barrier. Tech conducted a Best Available Control Technology (BACT) analysis for three noise mitigation measures. Tech presented the results of the noise monitoring and modeling analyses in a technical report and discussed the results at a meeting at the Wal-Mart store with the Mayor and adjacent residents.
