Montpelier Verizon Wireless Tower

SERVICE:

Cell Tower Sound Level Study

DESCRIPTION:

Verizon Wireless proposed a telecommunications facility equipment shelter near the parking garage of the National Life building in Montpelier, Vermont.  The City of Montpelier Noise Ordinance limits the sound received at property lines from a noise source based on the use of the abutting property (i.e. commercial, industrial, or residential).

Tech Environmental conducted a sound study to confirm that sound levels in National Life pedestrian areas (sidewalks) would comply with hearing protection guidelines, and that offsite sound levels would comply with the Montpelier Noise Ordinance.

Key Points

  • Verizon Wireless was concerned that a new cell tower facility would require hearing protection or mitigation since its location was near a pedestrian walkway.
  • Tech's sound study confirmed that sound levels would be acceptable without mitigation.
