Marshfield Route 139 Widening Project

SERVICE:

Roadway Expansion Noise Study

DESCRIPTION:

The town of Marshfield, Massachusetts had been working for 12 years to expand Route 139, a major artery in the town, from two lanes to four between School and Furnace streets. The 1-mile widening project would help reduce traffic and add more than 900 jobs to the Enterprise Park area.

Tech Environmental performed a roadway noise study for project to compare the existing and future worst-case sound levels at nearby locations to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Noise Abatement Criteria for residential and commercial areas.  The study predicted sound levels using the FHWA Traffic Noise Model (TNM), and all homes and businesses near the proposed widened roadway were included as receivers.
