Noise Study for Energy Facility Expansion

DESCRIPTION:

FPL Energy proposed an expansion to its Rhode Island State Energy (RISE) facility in Johnston, Rhode Island consisting of a second generating unit powered by a GE 7FA combustion turbine.

Tech Environmental conducted a noise study to establish existing sound levels, acoustically model future conditions, establish compliance for the expanded facility with the incremental limit required by the Rhode Island Energy Facility Siting Board (EFSB), and demonstrated compliance with sound limits in the Town of Johnston Zoning Code.  The analysis determined that with  the mitigation measures for the stack, transformers, and cooling tower for the expanded facility, would allow the facility to fully comply with the EFSB sound limit.
