DESCRIPTION:

Sonoco Products wanted to examine possible environmental and occupational effects of radiofrequency (RF) emissions, and desired evaluations of effects on workers.

Tech conducted radiofrequency (RF) radiation measurements and made site observations at the Sonoco Products facility located in Devens, Massachusetts. This assessment identified the occupational hazards associated with the operation of RF heat sealers used in the production line at the plant. Recommendations for improvement were developed, based upon the results of the radiation measurements and review of administrative controls and programs.
