DESCRIPTION:

A developer for a proposed Lowe's store in Chester, NY needed a sound study, acoustical modeling, and mitigation to ensure that noise from the store would comply with local guidelines.

TE conducted baseline sound level monitoring at locations along the property lines abutting the nearby residential areas to establish the existing sound condition. Acoustic modeling with CadnaA was performed for the proposed Lowe's store. Tech predicted the maximum sound levels from mechanical rooftop equipment and other sound sources at the nearest residential property lines and inhabited dwellings around the site. Predicted sound levels were compared to existing background, average and maximum sound levels. Future sound levels were compared to the EPA residential Noise guidelines. Tech's study demonstrated that the proposed store would comply with all applicable regulations.
