Hospital Parking Garage

SERVICE:

Microscale Air Quality Analysis

DESCRIPTION:

A hospital in New Haven, CT proposed to add more parking spaces, and was required to determine the potential air quality imapcts of a new parking garage.

A microscale air quality analysis for carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and particulate matter (both PM10 and PM2.5) was performed.  Tech first determined the emission rates for motor vehicles on the roadways.  The garage and vehicle emissions were then projected into the surrounding area using the EPA stationary and mobile source dsipersion models. The total pollutant concentrations were then compared to Connecticut and National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) to demonstrate that the project would not have an adverse impact on air quality.  Tech assisted with public meetings related to air quality.
