Web Corp Printing Facility

SERVICE:

Sound Testing to Determine Compliance

DESCRIPTION:

The Web Corp printing facility in Randolph, MA needed sound level monitoring to test compliance with the MassDEP Noise Policy. A neighbor had complained about sound levels from dust collection equipment at the facility.

TE took broadband sound level measurements on a weekday in the afternoon with a high-precision sound analyzer at the property line to test compliance with the MA DEP Noise Policy. This policy allows an industrial plant to increase the background (L90) sound level by up to 10 A-weighted decibels (dBA), and testing was conducted to respond to a letter from the local Board of Health that claimed a violation of this limit. The testing demonstrated that equipment was causing only a 4 dBA increase, in compliance with the regulation.
