Sound Level Screening Analysis

DESCRIPTION:

The proposed Kamco Supply Corporation facility in Cranston, Rhode Island needed a sound study to demonstrate compliance with the Cranston Noise Bylaw. Kamco Supply Corp has provided the building trades with acoustics, drywall, lumber, flooring, insulation and roofing since 1939. The project developer, New England Construction, hired Tech Environmental to prepare and present the sound study to a Cranston Planning Board meeting.

Tech Environmental helped Kamco to demonstrate compliance by performing acoustic modeling of facility noise impacts. This work included monitoring sound source measurements during forklift operations at an existing local facility, conducting an analysis of onsite truck movements, and preparing a report explaining the results. Expert witness testimony was presented at the Cranston Planning Board meeting, and included a brief presentation on the overall conclusions of the analysis. Tech's report demonstrated compliance with the noise ordinance and allowed the project to move ahead.
