DESCRIPTION:

The Associates of Cape Cod (ACC) biotech manufacturing facility in East Falmouth, Massachusetts suddenly received an increasing amount of noise complaints from its nearest neighbors, as well as inquiries from state and local authorities, after maintaining consistently unobjectionable operations for many years. In an effort to be a good neighbor, ACC contacted Tech Environmental to help determine if the facility was in violation of any noise regulations, and to recommend possible noise abatement solutions.

Tech conducted a noise compliance assessment in the areas surrounding the facility, and found that the facility was in compliance with Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Noise Policy, as well as all local noise regulations. Tech also conducted a thorough sound survey of the facility's external mechanical equipment and recommended noise abatement solutions which would most effectively lessen the total sound emission from the facility. After reviewing Tech's assessments, the facility decided to replace some rooftop mechanical equipment with quieter units, as well as to construct a noise barrier wall around some equipment to lessen acoustic impact on its neighbors.
