Generator Noise Analysis

DESCRIPTION:

A client requested a noise impact analysis of permitting implications for an emergency generator in downtown Boston. The unit would be located in a highly urbanized area with residential and commercial uses in close proximity.

Tech collected background noise measurements to establish the existing background sound levels in the project area. The sound emitted from the emergency generator was simulated with a 3-dimensional computer model and the impacts were compared to State and City noise limits. The study concluded that the proposed generator would comply with the applicable noise limits.
