Air Quality & Noise Analyses for EIR

DESCRIPTION:

Tech was asked to perform a mesoscale air quality analysis and a screening noise analysis for an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for a proposed mixed-use project in Spencer, Massachusetts.  These analyses were required to obtain approval for the project through the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA).

Tech predicted sound level impacts from motor vehicle traffic at the closest proposed project residences. The project proponent committed to transportation demand management (TDM) strategies and roadway/traffic signal improvements to help reduce the indirect air pollutant emissions from motor vehicles. The results demonstrated that the proposed project would not result in a noticeable increase in sound levels at any of the residences.
