Noise Analysis of Emergency Generator

DESCRIPTION:

A Plan Application for a 2,000 kW emergency generator at the Sun Life Financial complex in Wellesley, Massachusetts was being held up for lack of a noise impact analysis. Tech was asked to quickly provide a noise impact analysis that would be acceptable to the Massachusetts Deparment of Environmental Protection (MassDEP).

Tech performed a noise impact analysis for a 2,000 kW emergency generator to be sited at an office park. The future sound level impacts from the generator were found to comply with applicable noise regulations. Following submittal of the report, an existing 310 kW emergency generator was identified, and a supplemental sound survey and modeling protocol was developed to assess the net effect of both generators operating concurrently. Both generators were shown to comply with noise regulations with minor mitigation.
