Air Quality Emissions Inventory

DESCRIPTION:

Tech completed the five year update of General Environmental Impact Report (GEIR) later renamed the Environmental Status and Planning Report (ESPR) in 1995, 2000 and 2005 for Hanscom Airfield. Tech prepared and updated the Air Quality Improvement section of the GEIR and ESPR. Tech completed the annual air pollutant emission inventories for airside operations and for ground vehicle traffic, for the pollutants CO, NOx , VOC, and PM10 . The inventories were prepared for the year 2000, and projected for 2005, 2010, and 2015, using aircraft operations data and traffic volumes for ground vehicle traffic. The FAA EDMS model wa used in these calculations, and to the extent possible, Tech customized EDMS to match MassDEP MOBILE5b guideline emission rates for the region and to ensure consistency with the GEIR airside calculations.

Tech summarized Massport's progress in developing an implementation program for Air Quality Initiatives, and to the extent possible, quantified their benefits. The status of the Environmental Management System (EMS) program was also discussed along with its role in minimizing air quality effects on the adjacent communities.
