Odor Impact Study

DESCRIPTION:

Bird Corporation's Roofing division retained Tech Environmental to perform an odor impact study for a proposed asphalt blowing system and tank farm at Bird's facility on Pleasant Street in Norwood, Massachusetts. The study found that these improvements would result in a decrease in potential impacts.

Tech used emission estimating and dispersion modeling to examine the proposed design with respect to odor impacts at the nearest residence. Ventilation and stack recommendations made by Tech's odor control experts resulted in a 40 to 60% decrease in odor intensity at the nearest residence. Tech Environmental provided technical memoranda and expert testimony to the Norwood Board of Health as part of this project.
