Delano Plastics Molding Facility

SERVICE:

Environmental Certification for Plastics Molding Facility

DESCRIPTION:

Tech staff developed an Environmental Policy statement to successfully obtain ISO 14001 Environmental Certification for a facility in Delano, MN. In support of the ISO qualifying statement, a review of all industrial compliance programs were reviewed for applicability. These standards included air quality permitting, industrial stormwater management, process wastewater discharge, local land use, hazardous chemical management (Tier II), toxics release inventory (TRI) and hazardous waste management programs.

The assessment identified a gap in permit coverage and the client was required to enroll in the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's new Industrial Stormwater treatment program. Additionally, Tech identified that the client had not previously submitted Emergency and Hazardous Chemical Inventory Forms (Tier II reports) that businesses are required to prepare based on the types, quantities and locations of hazardous chemicals at a given facility. This is a combined annual notification to the USEPA, Local Emergency Planning Committees and State Emergency Response Commissions to identify designated facility contacts, plan for and respond to chemical emergencies.
